At Hertel Law S.C., we proudly present Harry Hertel, our founding attorney with a profound commitment to justice and community service. Since 1981, Harry has been a cornerstone of the Chippewa Valley legal community, specializing in criminal defense and plaintiff’s personal injury cases. His journey began at Carroll College, Waukesha, and included a transformative year at the Free University of Berlin, Germany. After college, Harry’s dedication to social causes led him to work on a low-income housing project in Madison, igniting his passion for law. He earned his J.D. degree in 1976 from the University of Wisconsin Law School in Madison.
Harry’s legal career is marked by his relentless pursuit of fairness, especially in challenging government and insurance companies. His expertise and leadership have been recognized through his role as the former President of the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (WACDL). He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Association for Justice and previously served on the Board of Directors for WACDL.
Beyond the courtroom, Harry is a devoted family man, sharing his life with his four children and growing number of grandchildren. His personal interests are as diverse as his professional achievements, ranging from politics to comic books, trivia contests, and sports. An avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Wild, Harry also dedicates time to the Center Ice Club Foundation of Eau Claire, promoting ice hockey in the region.
